Several weeks ago Ashton told he he could not hear out of one ear and I thought nothing of it, then one day he had blood in his ear and thought nothing of it, until the second time that it happened and I took him in to see the doctor, fortunately he scratched inside his ear with his finger nail and had a mild ear infection so we started a round of antibiotics and several days after we finished, I found myself yelling at him because, I thought that he was not listening to me. He usually hears pretty well it is the paying attention that he struggles with. Anyway, I finally got upset and asked if he could hear me and he said no, frustrated I called and got him another appointment with the doctor and found out that he had a wax build up and a raging ear infection. So we started a second round of antibiotics hoping that would help with the ear infection. Interestingly enough they did not do much to get rid of the clump of wax, except scratch his ear drum with a stick. That did not go over well, so I took matters into my own hands. Of course this did require two special "candles" and a fire. We just told Ashton to lay down on the floor and we quietly did our thing to get the job done. A few minutes in he says "why is there a fire there?" I said " what fire, on TV, I don't know." There was not kidding him and I gave in and told him to keep still until the fire goes out. His ear infection and hearing are much better now and I am happy that I do not have to yell at him all of the time.
At the same time as all of this is going on with Ashton, Ransom started with a runny nose. I thought he was getting cold so I got some herbal cold remedies (he will not take the drug store variety of medicine and thinks that herbal and homeopathic medicines are candy.) Well, they did not touch the constant runny nose. So the next day I went back to find a remedy for allergies. that did not help either. I finally decided that he was cutting some serious teeth and there has not been much I could do for him over the last three and a half weeks, except deal with it and hope that it passes soon. Well this evening I realized that he now has an ear infection too and I can't wait to see how many times we go to the doctor office over this one, fortunately I had some other homeopathic remedies for the discomfort so he should get some sleep and hey maybe I will get a little too.
Ransom's new thing is showing us food in his mouth. Crazy kid!
