Trucks!

Ransom has been so excited about trucks recently. Every time we are out and he sees a big truck he has to tell me. He still does not attempt to say truck but he will try to sign it which is great. So today was a big day for him he got to see very big trucks and very big tires.
This tire behind us came off a haul truck and John said that one of these tires costs about $35,000 each and every haul truck has six tires that are replaced about every 9 months. The haul trucks are about the size of a two story house and hold about 400 gallons of diesel fuel, oh and they carry a lot of dirt. I should have gotten a picture of the truck but it would mean nothing from so far away, trust me. The hole keeps getting deeper and wider. It really is impressive but because of the expansiveness there is not real perspective in just looking at it or photographing it. John suggested that you could stack the world trade center towers on top of each other and they would not make it out of the hole.
There are some not so interesting fun facts for the day. It was fun to go out for a little bit and do something different. After the mine visitor center a couple of us took the kids to the park in Copperton and had lunch in the park and let the kids run. They have this very old cement thing that should go away that the kids just loved to climb on and did not look safe to me. So I went up with Ransom and the metal slide looked like the best way down so I had Ransom sit on my lap and we went down, down and down way too fast. I pushed Ransom to his face as I went down on my face too. How embarrassing. Everyone there had a good laugh. To bad there are no pictures of that it would have been absolutely hilarious. We all had fun!

I was thinking about getting my camera out when I saw that you were going to go down the slide, too bad I didn't. I do have to say that you did fall gracefully!

Ransom is so cute! I'm glad you guys got to go out and have a field trip. They are fun--especially little kids.
